A 'slot', if I understand what you are talking about, is one of the saves you have on your closet (CUSTOMIZE).
How they work:
1) Make an outfit you like
2) In the CUSTOMIZE tab type in a name for your outfit (be descriptive it'll help you out in the long run)
3) Hit the SAVE button.
4) When you want to apply the outfit go to the CUSTOMIZE tab
5) Open the drop down box.
6) Select the outfit of your choice
7) Click apply
8) Click Show Changes.
