Is there anyone on here who could help me? I am posting this for a friend who is having problems with his controls. He has been using the arrow keys to walk, but for some reason tonight they changed and now he has to use w,s,a,d to walk. If someone can help please let me know.

I suppose Your friend tried to run repair?
maybe this tool helps :
loading xml failed tool
XML load failure
http://hosted1.zyberwerx...thertech/noproduct2.exe

That link will give a box for a quick repair without needing to uninstall and reinstall.

That should set things back to standard, but I´m not a specialistWink

Wishing You and Your friend all the best!

The default movement controls are set to use both WASD and the cursor (arrow) keys. This can of course be customised using the In-game settings (the cog icon on the top right), see https://utherverse.fandom.com/wiki/Controls

What Pytch says on your issue to fix is correct.

NEVER EVER RUN REPAIR UNLESS IT THE FINAL SOLUTION. It the last resort. There are other fixes you can do before running that.

What I would recommend to, your friend, is that they try toggling the setting "Use Direct Keyboard Input" under the Interface tab in Settings.

I have found that sometimes if I run another game or something, or if I install something new or an update, it sometimes messes with how DirectX works with my keyboard. And changing that setting helps.

OMG! I never did master walking using the arrow keys. I would walk off a staircase or balcony in heart beat. Good thing you can't break a avatar or I would be one mangled mess by now.

In game he needs to click on the 'settings' icon, then click on the 'controls' tab. Then at the top right it has "layout'. Click that arrow and change it to 'RLC Default' and click ok. Idk why something that is default isn't, I have to do this every time I log in, but it resolves the issue, until the next time you log in.
