Hello I have read most of what I could find out there over the years regarding nightclub spotlight movement and whatnot. My question, is there a way to make a spotlight make half rotation and then back again. So basically rotate it up then back down again. Not a full circle. Thanks for any replies

I don't think what you're asking is possible afaik but what I did was to use a Spotlight 2 prop and flipped it upside down (rotation z:180). The reason being was it was to be used for a helipad.
Yes it rotates instead of going up and down like you're asking. But because of the beam angle you have the illusion of the light going back and forth (or in your case, up and down).
For Script I used Rotate Object:
X-Axis: 0
CCW Pitch checked, Y-Axis: 1.0
everything else default
Don't forget to tick the Activate On Load box in State. You need that for the animation.
