If you mean to post in a club you own or work then you need to add the rule to broadcast.

The term "spam" is controversial and to do so is not allowed.
Your topic using the word announcements is far far more acceptable.
Besides sending announcements to friends on your list in PM you can alternatively send an announcement to their profile but not all members are inclined to accept or tolerate either. It can seem a bit vague but bear in mind making announcements in PM to someone on your friends is not spam however sending announcements to members who are not on your FL is spam just as making announcements in local/general chat is spam and therefore should be refrained from doing so.

I would suggeset to make a bulletin about the event. Use the calendar ! Best way to get low cost advertising, Also, I'd also suggest to send email invites to people on your friends list only ! If someone takes the time to send me an email via social center I'm more inclined to visit.
