I thought I'd better share my recent experience on a new build. Maybe the info is already here somewhere but I didn't know what I was looking for until I fixed it.

So I started a new build and got up to about 200 props, mostly clones so was only using about 5 different textures at this point but the load time was getting enormous. Over 2 minutes for 5 textures. I checked and double checked the textures. Applied the layout to another property. Renamed files and reinstalled all the textures. A repair cleared the problem, but only until my next login. Server was running fine in other properties and the only difference was the new property was using secure https URLs. One last go before posting on here I made all the URLs http. Thats taken the load time from over 2 minutes to about 3 seconds. Perhaps some techy person can shed some light on why this but I'll be avoiding https images from now on!

http is no longer considered safe because data is sent "as is" and not as "khgvgdhgkgg" but just adding the s to http does not make it safe the server has to actually be "s" compliant. I don't think the "s" is the problem its using the "s" when the server is not "S" compliant. I would try putting the URL in a browser and see how it handles it. If it changes the URL then use new one.

I'm just a hick girl from a hick town if anyone can add to this please do. Wink

The certificate for that domain is full and valid. I found this though..

Because encrypting and decrypting with private and public key takes a lot of processing power, they are only used during the SSL Handshake to create a symmetric session key. After the secure connection is made, the session key is used to encrypt all transmitted data.

So maybe it's handshaking every file or it's the way the client handles certificates. I'm still just guessing

I read somewhere that each and every file is sent singularly and the handshaking done separately on each file with no cache. Whereas send a humongous single file and you'd hardly notice the speed difference because the handshaking would only happen once. Let's be honest though the idea of https is for bank accounts and security etc and probably not best suited for pictures.
NOTE: My nick and image are from a company. That company allows people to use them both as long as they get permission and a licence. I have that and a certificate to prove it.
