We still have many additional components that are forthcoming, including increased outreach and advertising to a variety of communities, and the long-awaited new social center.
Already we have seen the size of the community begin to grow, and we have received feedback from new users - particularly as we have observed new users in focus-group-type environments.
One major observation that has been revealed is that new users are often ignored or even actively treated in a hostile manner by a handful of longstanding and/or VIP members. This treatment has even occurred in the Welcome Center, which is specifically designated as the region for all new users to begin their discovery of the Utherverse.
We are planning to return the Welcome Center to an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming for our newest users. Therefore, I put forward the following proposed plan, upon which I welcome your feedback and suggestions:
- We will be opening a "Learning Center" which will be a clone of the Welcome Center, and in which all users are invited to hang out and enjoy.
- The Welcome Center will become a region that is restricted to only new users, as well as volunteers (in both their Vol and primary accounts), and applicants to the volunteer program (so that we can assess how these applicants interact with new users).
- Any other user who wishes to gain access to the Welcome Center will be invited to send an email to World Ops. These users will have to agree to a set of Guidelines outlining how they should be acting in the WC and how they should behave toward our new users. Permission will be given manually to those users who do agree to these guidelines, and they will continue to have access to the Welcome Center as long as they are essentially kind and treat new users well.
- Access will be revoked for the WC region if a member is found to be abusive towards a new user in the WC.
- All prior restrictions on WC are going to be lifted (meaning, no restrictions for furry/neko...)
I'm hopeful that with this new system in place, we will see more community spirit and friendliness brought into Utherverse as we steadily grow with new users who will turn into upstanding members of our community.
Please feel free to comment in this thread.
Cheers, --Brian
Hi all, after spending a lot of time reading through all these posts, I think it would be a really good idea to stick to the subject for a start Second, uhmm Swimming can be done in the lagoon as far as I am aware. But anybody, basic or not basic. If I am wrong, I am very sorry. Second.. uhmm logging into the welcome centre haven't really got anything to do with what Brian is writing. I think that deserves another thread really. I don't post here very often, but I do read the posts and find them very usefull, but it is so hard to find head or tail in things if we don't stick to the subject at hand. So I have quoted Brians entire post above, so people will have a chance to get back on track. Thanks so much for all the lovely comments, good reading. Thanks all hugs Trikki

I don't post here often (Well, nearly never), but this time I cannot just stand by.. I have applied for the LD course and anyone knowing me, will know that most of my properties and my partners properties are not as bad as some of the people I have seen carrying the LD badge.. I wasn't accepted, my properties was failed and yet I have spoken to people who openly admit that they have no idea on how to do real deco and yet they passed the course.. How does that happen?.. And what is it worth then? I am not re-applying as I believe that the work you do will speak for itself. I do not know anybody at the top of this business and maybe that is where I am going wrong.. Not getting in with the right people.. hmmmmm, Sorry, but that is not me.. Now, after reading all these comments, I am sure I will not be re-applying or even trying. I do believe, that if you need customers, you need to go and get them and do a good job.. Everyone that posted for this, I thank you for your comments and I am sorry to hear that Utherverse really do not want quality decorators to attract outside business in here. This place could be a fantastic opportunity for lots of different business. However, with the lack of really good quality decorators, I don't really think that is ever gonna happen. However, that is just an observation and a thought for Utherverse to think about.. Just maybe they want to look at what their teachers/tutors/assesors are looking for or what it is they are not seeing at all. Dear Trikki just to add one comment to your post : this place is actually a good place to start and run a business, you DONT need any badges or courses to start your own business and if the result is good you will grow your business. NO license needed. The academy is MAYBE a good place for new people to learn the basics if they start from 0 and i think that was as well the idea of the academy when it was founded. Its deffi wrong to give that place ANY power to seperate "good" from "bad" in their eyes ! so if you want to start your business and run it, DO IT and DONT care about any badges or licenses Wish you big success Dear Jessi You are absoluty right..
