The program insists on making me a female avatar. Under Customize if I change it to male the option always says Dont Change and switches me back to female.
Any ideas?

everyone enters as a female when they first enter RLC for the first time. when under customize, there should be a show changes button. press that and it will show and keep you as a male

Like ^^ said. You must change it yourself. Under customize click on male (here you can change your appearance too) when you are satisfied click on the show changes button (this should be next to the don't change button) then off as a man

well it sounds to me like the option is not there for him maybe you have a glitch thaumiel..try deleting RLC from your computer and do a fresh re-install if that does not help you I can send you some info on how to get around this problem  "You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself one."
