I saw a subject that Kesha bring in ....

Kesha = "Everywhere I go I get error message "Windows Media Player doesn't recognize this file type". People been sharing those 181 URLs for over 7 years and It's WRONG!. Take the URL put it in a browser a "save" will pop up. Then open it from your download folder with notepad and grab your play music script."

I have a question about that issue ....

I always use the "regular" URL (like http://www.181.fm/stream/asx/181-power) for my music and never had any problem with it ...

What is the difference between ... using http://www.181.fm/stream/asx/181-power and (for same station) using http://relay.181.fm:8128 ?!?

I try them both and couldn't see any difference for me.

ASX isn't a music stream but a more of a playlist file pointing to streams and other media. Depending on which version of WMP you have detemines how this file is read. It could read the whole playlist before playing the first track/stream/image or just start to play. It could also contain different bandwidths of the same stream. In world or on your profile, a direct link to the actual stream is always most reliable for most people.

You can test it yourself by adding the 2 different streams to your browser. The asx adds another element which has to be negotiated for it to work.

They both point to the exact same IP
