In order to make the background to my profile more attractive, what part of the text in the notepad source code that comes up do I need to change? ----- Or is this not allowed?

Thanks very much pal. That was a  great answer, and thanks also for your offer of help. (I'll probably take you up on that one!) I have now been able to use one of the pre set layouts from one of the two sites you recomended and so have sucessfully changed the backgroung on my profile.

Its also rather simple to make your own layout with that personal touch.

1) I use http://photobucket.com as my image hosting site.

2) A great image editing site can be found at http://www.lunapic.com

Then throw it all together to create one awesome profile layout using..
