What a bargain!!!!

I'm going to close my unlimited server I pay $100 for 3 years for and sign up IMMEDIATELY lol

Yesterday I started transferring all my 3 PB accounts to my own Coppermine Gallery with a database costing me just £6 a year when added to my existing £17 a year base account. The Control Panel (CPanel) for the database is a custom gui like Windows so simple to maintain. First off I downloaded the full contents from each PB account so they are safely stored already.

I then approached each prop, whilst stood in the property, and though it had the warning sign on it I copied the address and pasted it into a separate browser URL tab. It displayed the picture with no warning sign. I repeated this with a few of the props. I downloaded them (right click, save as) to a folder then uploaded several files at once to my server. Changed the prop address in UV to that of the server just by pasting in the address. One by one I could see my props start to appear correctly and many used the same prop so I was able to do paste, paste, paste in a few places and save time. What kept me going and made it enjoyable was every prop change felt like I was sticking it to PB and taking back control myself. Every visible prop was proof to me it had already been done and was no longer a PB prop but a CopperMine Gallery prop

This may take me time but I am intent on doing all my own properties. Rely on the purchased ones to be fixed by the seller. Many of mine are from ED and quite safe. Eventually I will pay PB £0.00 per month, £0.00 per year and delete my pics from their server then tell them where to stick the accounts. Hint: The sun don't shine there..... I will be more than happy if PB loses a lot of both free and paid business through this! To me it's as bad as the people locking a PC until people pay a ransom. What started free then became demanding money with menaces. Whilst they may have allowed people to download their stuff by putting the signs there they made it difficult to see what went where and what address/name it was. All those properties there for years then turned into crap over night. Many people cannot fix stuff like this themselves.

Note: "Coppermine is open-source software and is licensed under the GNU General Public License." and it's folders can be password locked and set private. It has been around since 2003/4. A proper login panel presents itself prior to opening the gallery.

EDIT: Please don't PM me about the ~original trick, I know of it already and it is a good temporary measure. I did it once but you are effectively bypassing their restrictions and I would not trust it completely or imagine it will stay. I am glad to be getting out of there, I never did rate the PB service free or paid.

....it still says 39.99/mo on mine ......and yes...monthly always pricier than yearly..but thats not just PB...most companies do that.

Learn how to name your images and folders so they make sense and you don't even need the "copy and paste link generator"
Just have a Copy & paste template in a notepad and replace the actual image name/path if needed.

Actually ... for disposable stuff like flyers, you can still use the image hosters as long they work for you.

The part that kept me from using imjur was "don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere"

That pretty much is what all the deco's do as well as the designers that show their outfits in the forums...

I have run across a few people that felt that the photobucket debacle couldn't affect me as a designer. But the weeks I have spent fixing my tutorial posts, and making a new thread to show my outfits not to mention having to repair my store textures show otherwise. Then there are all of my zaby's that I have made over the years that have images in photobucket. Yeah, I was affected, affected to the point of considering to give up.

I find it suprising you all havn't demanded action from UV. Answers at least, hosting resolution preferably.

You all pay twice as much, plus some buisness lisc. That is twice the newest adult game, and that is quickly dying now. Is it inappropriate to expect value for your money? Is it wrong to expect a reason to have a buisness here now? Look at the population after 9pm PST. The Photobucket issue just sped up the inevitable. Your client base is dwindling.

Don't you think it's time to ask some questions about what you get for the fee you pay??

I DONT KNOW IF ANYONE KNOWS THIS I DIDNT TIL I JUST TRIED IT BUT YOU CAN TAKE ANY PIC YOU HAVE IN YOUR PROFILE IN YOUR PICTURES FOLDER AND CLICK ON THE PIC AND THEN RIGHT CLICK ON IT AND THEN CLICK ON COPY IMAGE ADDRESS AND APPLY THAT CODE TO ANY SIGN OR PROP. SO IN A WAY WE HAVE A PIC STORAGE PLACE HERE AND ITS FREE.
