Mistakenly thinking the level of quality would be higher by creating certain levels or standards. The best way is by where you spend your rays, and where you don't spend. Let the market and quality be in the eye of the buyer.
I have been amazed in the past what sold well, (crap sold by some notable names - but their customers falling through floors, nothing aligned right, sloppy work in general, but had eye appeal with glitzy dazzling textures). Yes, it is a pretty roach hotel, but it only costs 150 rays! lolol. SMH
I think two factors raise the level of deco quality. The market consumer. The other is the Zaby Home Show contests. You see the best and finest compete in some tough competition.
The ZHS people have done a great service in raising standards and quality. Bad deco work will fill the band width, but if consumers shop, there is always a new layout being introduced....these bad ordinary ones will whither, and the decos of these will fade, starve and die....lol. The quality ones should thrive if marketed well. Misty...pay close attention to the ZHS winners and runners up to make your quality selections.
Often the award winning deco all looks the same, for many reasons. Judges have their favorites, and select consciously or unconsciously their favorites. (Deco Dogma!?..lol) Other decos tailor their entries to match the judges tastes. They don't necessarily know who the judges will be ahead of time, but its generally the same crowd.
Hopefully through this 'deco dogma', new looks and styles will still somehow emerge within the limits of the programing. Sometimes, as in many things....change only seems to occur one funeral at a time.
As mentioned above, the best way is to develop your own deco skills over time, and create your own dreams.
So the best suggestion is to follow the quality at the ZHS!
