I'm not sure if the viewer needs the VLC player or if it can be viewed directly from browser only.

The VLC Player for streaming is in the SUPER List in the Radio/TV Section.

When setting up the VLC player, in Step 4, you choose HTTP as the destination which suggests it can viewed via the browser.
