Can anyone tell me why this has shown up on my screen, and more importantly, how to get rid of it, Please! It is the strange box in the lower right corner

Pushing F2 on your keyboard should make that window close.

In addition to what Devine stated, if you wish to learn about your keyboard functions then press F7 or click the tools icon to open your settings.

Click the CONTROLS tab.

There you can find out what keys and commands your keyboard performs.

You can even customize your keyboard if you prefer.

I keep the F2 window open all the time..my screen looks naked without it, lol. I can't do a lick of deco without it, it's very handy.
