That was not intended for you. It was a test for Tipster. Unless you have a service which is listening on port 8120, you're not going to get anything from that URL.

No worries. Just trying to help Tipster get a new program working. The link I gave him is a test link for the program to ensure it's working locally (thus the "localhost" reference).

I have the ports open in my router. The firewall set to allow that program. My puter is on 192.168.0.107 which is then on my WAN address. localhost does not work for me but putting in 192.168.0.107 as an example on my Profile.

<embed src="http://192.168.0.107/mplaylist.swf" quality="high" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" wmode="transparent" width="285" height="240" FlashVars="auto=True&vol=0.8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash" />

The above works perfectly from my Profile, for me only obviously because it is my LAN address. The WAN address as below works for nobody;

<embed src="http://80.1.135.218:8080/mplaylist.swf" quality="high" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" wmode="transparent" width="285" height="240" FlashVars="auto=True&vol=0.8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash" />

That is as far as I got. I am not used to this stuff so whilst being alien to me I can play around a little with it.
NOTE: My nick and image are from a company. That company allows people to use them both as long as they get permission and a licence. I have that and a certificate to prove it.

The fact that it works using your local IP is a good sign. That means your computer is allowing the connection. It looks like it may be your modem/router that is blocking it. When you say "the ports open" on your router, I have to wonder... did you just open the ports on your routers firewall, or did you add an actual port map (sometimes called a port trigger)? A port mapping requires specifying not only the port number, but also the IP address of the local computer to direct the port to. If you can give me the model of your router, I can probably tell you how to set it up properly.

The port mapping part is, by far, the most complicated part of the process. And anyone who has ever run a service like this on their home computer would probably agree with that. Any time you run an internet service (web server, email server, stream server, etc.) you need to set up a route or "port map" through your router/modem. For the average internet user, this can seem like a daunting task. But once you get the gist of what's going on, it's actually pretty simple to understand and set up.

Ok, on that model router you would go to the Advanced tab, then Port Forwarding to configure what you need. http://setuprouter.com/router/dlink/dir-615/port-forwarding.htm

I'm assuming that your D-Link is getting a Public (WAN) IP address from your internet modem, which would be the "80.1.135.218" or something similar? You can check that by going to the Status tab. It should show a similar IP under the WAN section.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the D-Link routers require a reboot after changing the port forward settings.

Many thanks, as far as I could see I already had that all set. However, I deleted all that was there, started over, saved. Rebooted the modem and exactly as it was before, no joy. Probably me anyway.
