Found a place that converts youtube files/urls to MP3 and, have now got a nice fat folder of cool music. Thing is, after downloading the entire contents of one folder to disk, all the files have the lock icon beside them.

Opening them is no problem as i have admin rights but, why are they showing being locked now when they weren't before?

This is just those files i've downloaded to disk, so far.

Are you using Windows Media Player to burn your CDs? WMP treats DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected files very weird, and will lock the files it doesn't think you have ownership to. Google "How To Open Locked MP3 Files" you will get alot of good answers. Myself, I use Jetaudio (free) for burning CDs BECAUSE it doesn't lock the files. Also, I use this site for converting Youtube to MP3 http://www.youtube-mp3.org/

That's who i found and use. Some files, it won't convert but, the majority it will.

Yes, i'm using the windows media -- it auto pops up when burning a disk is selected -- so far, no problems with the thing.

As for them being locked? That's just it -- though the locked icon is there, i can play them.

So, maybe my better question is:

How am i able to play locked files? But, that answer is me being the admin, right?

The lock icon simply means that the file is private and can't be shared. If you want to get rid of the lock, create a new folder and copy the files over. That should make the lock go away. Also, you might want to try the converter site I posted... Its the fastest one I've found so far. and being a DJ, I need a fast converter.

Try this converter which is the fastest and best on market which has 6-7 download specs with 4 different speeds and 5 format types to save. I use mp3 only and it does not lock files at all and does not use WMP either.

I just want to say, I use the youtub2mp3 as a last resort. I usally pay out of my pocket to get my d/ls from amazon, or last Fm. I Do Not make any money when I DJ. I do it for the love of music.

I wouldn't use that one as any resort as it is very slow and full of bug potentials. Try the one I listed Cat. You will be surprised.

Got it saved on my desktop now, Dusty. Thanks Smile BTW http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ is really fast, and I've had no issues with it in the couple of years I've been using it. There are other Youtube2mp3 that ARE very slow and buggy, and have alot of pop-ups. Just wanted to make it clear, there's a good one out there on the Interweb.

i gave downloading yours a try and . . guess what? Chrome refuses it ... lmao, huh? Place i use is decent enough and, except for something 1:40:50(example) like, downloads in less than a minute -- most come down in less than 15 seconds .. and, no pop ups, etc.

You are not doing something correct as my YTP down-loader (http://www.youtube-d.com/) works on all FLV.

Select download quality to FLV

Select Convert Video to MP3 and then download.
