I just complete my first outfit. Shiny is HARD to get to look okay and I am still not sure that I am happy with it. Please let me know what you think and any critique to improve is more than welcome Smile

Hugs,
Sinn

Nice start Sinn. And your shiny look okay to me, but yeah you're right. That's pretty much a "feel" thing.

I think it looks fabulous! Great work!!

The feet thing is one of those drawbacks of the current meshes. The feet are all whacked out from the ankle down. So that's not your fault, and very little could be done to better it. An alternative would be to use a different shoe that covers the whole foot, but then you have to attempt to line up laces (PAIN). You could also alter your vision and end the laces above the ankle. Learning the limitations of the current meshes and how to work around them is just one of those things that comes with practice. But, like I said, its not you.... anyone trying to create the same thing would encounter that same issue. So don't let that get to you.

The shine looks great. I love the colors, and the style.

You could increase your sales and visibility by making other colors. Some people are all for it, some people hate it. But if you offer the most popular (black, white, red, pink, grey > purple, blue, green > anything else) you will appeal to more people and increase your sales. Ofc that all depends on the outfit and your personal preference.

And <3 for using my makeup and for mentioning me Wink Huggies!

The only thing I would change is the presentation. Presentation is a large part of someones decision to try on your outfit. If they cannot see it very well on the thumbnail, they might move on. Half the battle is complete, you've got a great look (skin, hair, makeup). And your outfit rocks. The other part is the screenshotting and sales image layout. Try to use a very slightly wide rectangle (I do 1:0.9), or even a square. I believe the width of everything is scaled down to is 980px wide when looking at an enlarged view. So don't bother going larger than that. And fill it up with any of - multiple shots, closeups, your logo, title, slogans, features, etc. Take a look at others to get some ideas. Borders would draw attention, and separate yours from everyone elses. You can use a friend or a bot for closeups. Don't scale your screenshots up. If your monitor is small, and your images are small, don't stretch them to make a larger pic, scale down the layout to match the screenshot, otherwise you get blur that makes your outfit look blurry when its not. Having a pre-made layout that you just drop your images in can make things go faster and make your catalog look seamless. Doing something different each time make it unique and make your catalog look interesting. Try a few things and see what feels right for you. Don't drive yourself mad trying to make it perfect. These are just some suggestions. I have changed my layout at least 6 times since I started, and only now am I happy with it, but still would not dare call it perfect.

Again, love it! Keep it up! Applause Applause Applause

Sinn, I'm just starting out too and agree that getting the lighting right on textures is not easy but I am finding lining things up on the meshes a bigger hassle. You've done a really nice job there.

I hope my little post will give you

some good info about lining up and clothing design..

collected from some amazing posts, mostly from MalevolentBeauty,

a great Designer and Tutor (who left game, 8 months ago,

I wish her every success and Happiness in all her future life!)

But anyway, I whipped up a quick and dirty tut on an easy way i use to line up patterns sometimes. It's not perfect, but you could say it's a step in the right direction?

Ok I hope for any tools that I mention using, that they're in PSP7. I have PSP8, so hopefully not too many changes between the two.

Ok step one, create your pattern. I didn't find out until the end of making this tut, that this pattern didn't really lend itself well to showing that it lined up with itself. Anyway, I created this pattern at 512 x 512. And I usually work at the same resolution with the meshes too.

Next step, copying and applying your texture to your mesh. Obviously as a new layer. Grin But what I do is bring it about half way down so that the pattern actually hangs off the working area. That will become clear in the next few steps.

Now for easy deleting of extraneous areas around the mesh, I have a separate layer set up that I usually keep invisible. It's filled with black that only covers the mesh itself, and about 3-5 pixels outside the mesh boundaries. On this layer, I use the magic wand to select the blank area around the mesh and...

Then while the selection is active, I click on the layer that I have my pattern on, and press delete.

Now because my deletion layer actually extends to the very bottom of the working area, the pattern doesn't get cut off from the bit that's hanging outside that area. So selecting the deform tool while I'm on that layer...

I can easily copy and paste the entire pattern sans deleted area, onto the legs mesh.

Whereby I can then start moving the pattern layer up, and stretch it with the deform tool so that the edges of teh shirt line up with the proper lines on the leg mesh.

Then a quick upload to UVD shows...

Not ideal results. But like I said, the pattern I created didn't lend itself well to showing that it was lined up. And of course this only covers the front, the back is a little harder with that curve to the mesh at the base of the back. Also, I still go by trial and error a lot. Sometimes uploading up to six test versions until I have it just right.
